Dairy Lane Care Centre

We are a small, personal home for the elderly. We have as a family got many years of experience of running a home all with different skills (engineering, registration and inspection and nursing home manager/RGN, proprietors)  We are registered to provide accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care. We enlist the assistance of the district nursing service for any clinical needs although the manager is also a registered general nurse. Our residents have a variety of needs, all age related. Our specialty is caring for those who living with dementia and as those needs are often complex and very individual, we are perfectly set up to try and create as normal home environment as possible. We have a dedicated Dementia Champion and of course are Dementia Friends.

Our staff are extensively trained in dealing with these conditions, all have NVQ/diploma in care 2/3 along with many additional courses. All are trained in dementia care and awareness and we have two dementia champions. 

We have a dedicated team to offer our residents the best possible experience including activity coordinator, care staff, dementia/end of life champions, cooks and ancillary staff. We plan theme days where everyone can take part from dressing up to appropriately themed food. Our activity schedule is devised with resident, family and staff suggestions. 

We operate as an inclusive environment where no one is segregated according to their condition. Our residents are free to explore communal areas inside and outside at will.

We have provided a secure accessible outside area for all to enjoy without having the need to ask.

We feel freedom of movement is important for well being.

We offer high quality Residential,Dementia and short break (urgent and planned admissions) care in our 22 bedded home.The home was originally a large Victorian Manor House and is situated in its own private tree lined grounds in a prestigious area of Houghton-le Spring.The home still retains many original period features combined with modern conveniences making this the ideal choice for a care in a charismatic environment.

This beautiful home is only a short walk from all the local amenities of the town centre and is also on a main bus route.
Most facilities are located on the ground floor with the exception of a limited amount of bedrooms. These can be accessed via the main staircase or by passenger lift.
We have 2 separate lounges and an activity room offering a different experience.
We have an eclectic mix of accommodation

that fits perfectly with the originality of

this period property. We have 3 bathrooms all equipped with hydraulic assisted baths.
All rooms are furnished to a high standard

with that family home feel to them. You can

redesign and furnish your room to own

taste should you prefer subject to safety of course.
We offer an extensive and varied choice of meals which you can select from daily and we appreciate your input.
In addition to this unique house we also have fabulous secure seating areas that are always accessible to our residents. There is a garden

and ample parking places to the front of the property. We also have a separate Covid secure visiting hub and a substantial covered in courtyard to allow more flexibility.
